Is it time for you to break up with your home? In this episode of Highest Or Best, I’m going to share the top four signs that you may have fallen out of love with your home, according to real estate relationship experts. We’ll look at how to sort through your feelings and show you why you may need to consider breaking up with your house.
#1: It’s Too Small
The first sign that you need to break up with your home is if you walk into your kitchen, bathrooms, home office, or other highly used rooms and you’re immediately frustrated with the space. It feels too small and cramped, and you’re always bumping into your family or your stuff as you move through the house. It’s just too small, especially during a pandemic.
#2: It’s Too Expensive
Are you stressed about the finances of your home? If your mortgage payment is just too high, you might want to break up with your house. When your monthly budget is tight because of utility bills, homeowner’s insurance, maintenance costs, and those high property taxes, you’re ready for a more affordable cost of living.
#3: You Don’t Love Your Neighborhood
The third sign you’ve fallen out of love with your house is if you go out and you’re not counting down the seconds to get back to your neighborhood. Maybe the traffic has become worse, or you’re frustrated with the lack of nearby amenities and green space around your house. You’d rather find a new neighborhood with amenities and an environment that fits better with your current lifestyle.
#4: You’re Jealous
The last sign it’s time to break up is jealousy. You feel that pang of jealousy when you visit your family or friends’ homes. You start imagining how you’d decorate a space like that, and you get excited.
